Ernest E. Sawin 1938 - 2008 Ernest E. Sawin, 69, a DuPont retiree & formerly of Leominster, died on April 4, 2008, Ernie was born on November 27, 1938 in Leominster, the son of the late Arnold and Edith Sawin. He was class valedictorian & attended Columbia College on a scholarship; was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and Columbia's football team. Mr. Sawin received his A.B. in Liberal Arts from Columbia College in 1960, his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University in 1961, and his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1962. Mr. Sawin enjoyed a 35-year career with DuPont as a chemical engineer, operations superintendent, and project manager., where he gained many awards. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane, of Rochester, MI; their two sons, John and his wife, Grace and their 2 daughters, Allie and Kate; David and his wife, Heather and their daughter, Ella, and his sister, Betty Callahan and her husband, Paul. |
Elizabeth A. Day 1937 - 2007 Elizabeth A. Day, 70, formerly of 212 Abbott Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 16, in the LifeCare Center of Leominster. Elizabeth was born in Leominster on Feb. 8, 1937, daughter of George W. and Dorothy (Wood) Day and was a lifelong resident. She had been the bookkeeper for George Day Painting Co. of Leominster for many years. She was a member of St. Leo’s Church in Leominster and loved gardening. She is survived by three nephews, Christopher G. Day, of California, Matthew D. Day, of Leominster, and Gregory B. Day, of Leominster and seven grandnieces. Her brother, George H. Day, died in 2005.

Jacqueline (Sawyer) Celli 1939 - 2006 Jacqueline Celli, of 39 Rustic Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, in University of Massachusetts University Campus. Jacqueline was born January 20, 1939, in Leominster, daughter of the late John Sawyer and Rhea (Caron) Sawyer. She was a graduate of Becker Junior College. Mrs. Celli worked for G.I.T. Travel Agency. She was a member of Saint Anna’s Church and the Saint Anna Society. She enjoyed traveling with her family. She was totally devoted to her children and grandchildren.

C. Brennan 1938 - 2005 Robert C. Brennan, 67, died Dec. 28, in Leominster, after an illness. He was born in Worcester on Jan. 11, 1938, the son of Norman P. and Hazel D. (Paquette) Brennan and had lived in Leominster most of his life. Mr. Brennan was an educator for 37 years before retiring in 1998. He taught for two years in Shelburne Falls and then taught in the history department for 35 years in Leominster, first at Carter Junior High School and then at Leominster High School. Mr. Brennan is survived by his wife of 38 years, Christine L. (Ethier) Brennan; a son, Paul C. Brennan, of Leominster; a daughter, Elizabeth A. DeMille, of Westford; a brother, Norman P. Brennan and a sister, Patricia A. Boucher Schofield, of Leominster; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. |
