Janet (Lehman) Finkelstein      Finkelstein81@yahoo.com

Retired and living in Kingsland, GA.

Note from Tommy D.: I've lost track of Janet, but found a Memorial to her Daughter, Dr, Lee Ann Berry:

Dr. Lee Anne Berry
December 29, 1946 - January 26, 2007

Corrales, New Mexico - Dr. Lee Anne Berry died unexpectedly at her home in Corrales, New Mexico on Jan 26, 2007. She was born December 29, 1946, in the Panama Canal Zone, to Leon Finkelstein and Janet (Lehman) Finkelstein. She received her MD degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1972.

She spent most of her medical career as a Family Practitioner in Dover-Foxcroft, where she lived and worked from 1975 until 1994. That year she moved to New Mexico, where she continued to practice family medicine in the Albuquerque area up to the time of her death.
Dr. Berry will be remembered for her devotion to maternity care. She was involved in over 1,000 births in the Dover-Foxcroft area during her 20 year career here. She believed in empowering women to make their own choices about their health care, especially during pregnancy and childbirth. She worked tirelessly to improve the quality of obstetrical care, first at the old Mayo Memorial Hospital, and from 1978 on, at Mayo Regional Hospital. She supportted local midwives in performing home births and attended a number of home births herself.

When not involved with her children and patients, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and her pets, especially her horses.
She is survived by one daughter, Rachael Myers and her husband, Randall Myers of Pittsfield, Mass; 2 sons, Jim Berry of Cambridge, Mass and Jason Berry of Dover-Foxcroft; 4 grandchildren, Kaylee Myers and Jackson Myers of Pittsfield, Hannah Campbell of Dexter, and Isaac Berry of Bath, Maine; one sister, Melissa St. Pierre of New Hampshire; 2 brothers, David Finkelstein of Florida, Ken Finkelstein of Connecticut; her mother, Janet Finkelstein of Georgia; her friend and life companion Bruce Traeger of Corrales, New Mexico; and several nephews.

She is greatly missed by her family, friends, medical colleagues, patients, and pets.
