Irene L. (Veasey) McDonald

1913 - 2008

Irene L. (Veasey) McDonald, 94, of 100 Main St., Leominster, died on Monday, Jan. 28, in the LaChance Center in Gardner.

She was born on June 15, 1913, in Leominster, the daughter of Michael J. and Ellen (Taylor) Veasey. She worked as a clothing stitcher for the former Cluet Peabody Co. in Leominster for 23 years, and then worked as a housekeeper for eight years at Leominster Hospital, retiring in 1980. Mrs. McDonald was a member of St. Leo’s Parish in Leominster, the Blessed Virgin Sodality at St. Leo’s Parish. She was a member of the Leominster Senior Center and the Leominster Golden Age, where she was secretary for 14 years.

Mrs. McDonald is survived by a daughter, Mary Oliva of East Templeton; a daughter-in-law, Catherine (Grecco) McDonald of Leominster; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Leonard McDonald in 1970; two sons, Michael J. McDonald, John D. McDonald; and a brother, Clarence Veasey.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery in Leominster. There will be a calling hour on Thursday morning, Jan. 31, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Elsie (Marquis) McCann

1913 - 2006

Elsie E. (Marquis) McCann, 93, of 75 Judy Drive in Leominster, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Keystone Center in Leominster.

She was born on March 27, 1913, in Leominster, and was the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Bourgerois) Marquis. Mrs. McCann graduated from Leominster High School in 1931. She then worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Stevens at Leominster Hospital, followed by working for Dr. Smith D.D.S. She then worked at New England Telephone, and was the treasurer for McCann Pontiac Inc. in Leominster. She was a member of the Hospital Guild, and the Fortnightly Club. She was a member of St. Leo’s Parish where she taught C.C.D.

Mrs. McCann is survived by two daughters, Jane Walsh and her husband, Edward Walsh, and Ellen Campagna and her husband, Pelino “Bill” Campagna, all of Leominster; one brother, Bernard Marquis of Leominster; one sister, Gloria Howard of California; five grandchildren, Johnathan C. Campagna of Leominster, Francesca Conte of Worcester, Chris M. Walsh of New York City, Dan Walsh and Antoinette Walsh of Gardner, and Alex Walsh of Boston; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. McCann, in 1978.
